Kikuwa Bonsai Fertilizer Containers 18 pcs. AuthenticKikuwa Bonsai Fertilizer Containers (also called fertilizer baskets or covers) protect organic fertilizer cakes and slow-release pellets from washing away during watering or being carried off by birds, squirrels, and pests. Manufactured in Japan from durable, weather-resistant plastic, these containers ensure your trees receive a consistent, steady supply of nutrients directly into the soil. Why Use Kikuwa Fertilizer Baskets? Pest & Wildlife Protection: Prevents birds, rodents, and insects from eating or scattering organic fertilizer like Biogold, Rape Seed Cake, or solid pellets. Prevents Nutrient Wash-Away: Keeps fertilizer anchored during heavy watering, rainstorms, or overhead hose spraying. Cleaner Soil Surface: Keeps moss and bonsai substrate neat by containing the decomposing fertilizer inside the basket rather than letting it turn into unsightly sludge on top of your Akadama or lava rock. Targeted Feeding: Spike anchors push securely into the soil mix, keeping nutrients concentrated right above the active root zone. Reusable & Weatherproof: Made in Japan using UV-resistant plastic built to handle sun exposure, rain, and repeated seasonal use without cracking. How to Use Fill: Open the lid (or top opening) and place your preferred organic fertilizer cake or slow-release pellet inside. Anchor: Firmly press the bottom spikes directly into the bonsai soil near the feeder roots (avoid placing directly against the trunk). Water: Water your bonsai as normal. As water flows through the basket slits, it breaks down the fertilizer gradually, dripping rich nutrients straight into the substrate.
