Premium New Zealand Pine Bark Fines The Organic Engine for Healthy Roots Elevate your soil mix with our Professional-Grade New Zealand Pine Bark Fines or Orchiata. Sourced from sustainably managed Pinus radiata forests, these fines are uniquely processed to remove the waxy outer layer, ensuring they absorb and release moisture effectively from day one. We source our New Zealand Pine Bark from trusted suppliers who prioritize horticultural purity. No soil contamination, no high saltsjust clean, hard bark that smells like a fresh forest floor. Why New Zealand Pine Bark? Exceptional Longevity: Pinus radiata is a dense, hard bark that resists rapid decomposition. While cheaper barks turn to "muck" within a season, these fines maintain their structure for 35 years, reducing the risk of soil compaction. Natural pH Buffer: Naturally acidic (pH 5.56.5), these fines are essential for acid-loving species like Azaleas, Maples, and Conifers, helping to neutralize alkaline tap water. Tannin-Rich & Protective: Rich in natural resins and tannins, New Zealand Pine Bark helps suppress pathogenic fungi and soil-borne diseases, creating a bio-active environment for beneficial mycorrhizae. No "Nitrogen Robbing": Because it is a hard bark and not soft wood, it doesn't deplete nitrogen from the soil as it breaks down, ensuring your trees keep their deep green colour year-round. How to use Pine Bark: For Deciduous soil mix (Maples and Elms): mix 50% pine bark and 50% inorganic soil substrate like pumice/akadama. For Conifer soil mix (Pines, Junipers): Use a 20-30% organic ratio to provide just enough moisture retention for those hot summer afternoons. For Indoor Tropical bonsai soil mix (Ficus, Fukien Tea): Use a 40% pine bark, 30% akadama & 30% hyuga pumice mix.
